detox: more than mysterious juices

So, I just came back from rummaging through another detox phase. You know those moments when you end up watching strangely captivating things, like the elusive keto diet mysteries or anything related to stomach healing. Honestly, they suck you in like a Netflix binge. Keto, with its fats and migraines (seriously, the amount of cheese), and the whole gastric sleeve thing – sounds both terrifying and intriguing. You ever consider how they fit all that change into a sleeve? Me neither until now.

Then you’ve got the word detox – sounds mystical, right? Like it could echo if you say it loud enough into the void. People pour their lives into these detox plans as if a cucumber slice and lemon wedge in water is a miracle. Meanwhile, I’ve been eyeing a strange list of detox concoctions and wondering who has these in their fridge. The moment you attempt to sip on one of these, you question your life choices.

And why do all these topics end up wrapped around a family dinner? Family is always in the thick of it, right? Like, ‘Hey Mom, can you pass the salt while I consider abdominal surgery?’ It’s awkward and normal simultaneously.

Ever notice how diets and these healing fads get pushed by someone swearing it’s from personal experience? Oh, sure, Rebecca. I’m now convinced because you lost two inches off your waist after swearing by celery juice. I might just sacrifice my taste buds just to debate the science of it with a cucumber.

Sure, these methods may have their perks, but sometimes it seems we’re all chasing a trend, hoping to catch up to our own version of usage-happiness (such a term would be thrown around by marketers). Maybe I’ll stick with my cluttered kitchen scene and mix in some trial-and-error meals. Detox smoothies can wait. Ugh, my fridge is embarrassing right now, with kale wilting in the back. I need coffee. And maybe a sandwich…
