glucose spikes obsession

So people are now obsessed with glucose spikes. Seriously, what is it with society these days? You can’t just eat a meal in peace without someone shoving a loud declaration of sugar level importance in your face. Eat veggies first, then protein, then carbs. Do these folks really think we’re all about to plot our meals like a chemistry experiment every single day? Where did the joy in eating go?

Oh, and the cherry on top of this glucose-guilt sundae is the trendy Continuous Glucose Monitors (CGMs). Imagine strapping on a sci-fi-looking device just to realize that yes, your dinner roll did indeed spike your sugar levels by 12%. Shocking. But hey, now you’re ‘informed.’ Spoiler: it doesn’t change the fact that those carbs were delicious. My god, what a winning strategy to make simple eating an analyzed ecosystem akin to performing brain surgery blindfolded.

And I love how this whole thing is wrapped up in such a way that you should feel inspired and grateful for all this ‘knowledge’ being shared. Just don’t eat normally anymore, because clearly that’s unacceptable. How about we all chase ourselves around the insanity circle until we drop because after all, it’s for the sake of avoiding glucose spikes – that’s the true victory here. Whatever. Enjoy your veggie appetizers and protein second course nonsense.
